Tracy Aaron Ledbetter

Tracy was the second born of two children and had an extremely close relationship with his Big Brother Joseph Ledbetter Sr., who preceded in his death. Tracy Aaron Ledbetter, son of the late Leroy Ledbetter and Hazelteen Ledbetter, was born on December 10th, 1972, in Alexandria, Virginia.Tracy departed this life peacefully in his residence on June 16th, 2021. Tracy attended Alexandria City Public Schools and graduated from T.C. Williams High School in 1990. Following graduation, Tracy went on to study Marketing at Bowie State University where he excelled in football as a defensive lineman. He assisted in bringing the Bulldogs to the 3rd best defense in the 11 team CIAA. Tracy was an All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association performer and a Division II preseason All-American, which awarded him an invitation to the NFL Combine. “Tracy was a leader on and off of the field who influenced his teammates. The kids idolized Tracy.” (The Baltimore Sun, Sept 3rd, 1994) Tracy went on to practice with the Cleveland Browns, but due to effects of asthma, Tracy chose an alternate career path. Beginning in 2001, Tracy started a 20 year career with Montibello Condominium Association in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a dedicated and hard working employee who was beloved by fellow employees and residents. Tracy was a devoted Redskins fan, rarely missing a game or an opportunity to share his enthusiasm. Tracy was proud and had a GQ persona, he loved the finer things in life. Tracy will be remembered for his feisty, passionate personality, strong determination, will-power, always striving to accomplish his goals, and taking advantage of adventures that came his way. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends where he was known for brightening up the room with his contagious laughter, infamous dance moves and broad smile. He enjoyed listening to reggae music, grilling, playing cards and traveling. Tracy possessed an abundance of energy, which he showered unselfishly to close family and friends. Tracy made numerous friends wherever he went. To know him, was to love him. Tracy loved his family and his family loved him. His vibrant personality will never be forgotten and his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched. Tracy would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110% percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing and grilling to his heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. No more pain, heartache, confusion and hurt. No more missing his DEVOTED and STERN father, his BEAUTIFUL and LOVING mother, his BRAVE and HANDSOME brother, because he is with them. Tracy is at peace and he is FREE. He is SAFE in the FATHER’S arms. Tracy is survived by his loving niece and nephews, whom he loved and adored, Donisha Freeman, Maurice Cotton, Juwan Cotton Joseph Ledbetter Jr. (Chloé), Joshua Ledbetter (Louise), Jonathan Ledbetter, and Julionna Ledbetter. He is the beloved in-law to Teresa Belcher. He is the beloved great uncle to, Jayden Ledbetter, Jace Carter Ledbetter, Joseph Ledbetter III, Kall’e Etheridge, Devine Cotton, Maurice Cotton Jr. and Zyaughn Haggans. He is the beloved nephew of Ann Washington, Beatrice McKinney, Bernette Gilbert, Othernile Gilbert and Bernard Gilbert (JaNeice). Tracy is survived by loving cousins, as well as a wealth of extended family and friends who loved him dearly. Tracy was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents. My First Love- Tracy-how do I say goodbye to you? thirty five years and all we lived through. From your teenage years and beyond. We kept in touch, remained friends, we had a bond. Our conversations, your smile the love I saw in your eyes. I'll miss you Tre-that's no surprise! No more sickness, no more doctors, no more pain. God knew what he was doing- you've earned your wings.
