Nathan Edward Carter

Nathan Edward Carter (affectionately known as "Rat") departed this life on Monday, August 1, 2023, at his home in Fort Washington, MD. Nathan was born on October 11, 1959, to Reacer A. Baah and the late Oscar D. Carter at Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar D. Carter, brother, Adolph A. Carter, Sister, Francis E. Robinson, and Bonus-Father, Francis Robinson. Nathan grew up in Alexandria, VA in the Old Town area, and went to Alexandria Public Schools. As a young man, Nathan was flashy but classy and loved to dress, and that made it easy for him to pursue a career in modeling. He was a standout member of the group, Unique Finest. That's where he met Kaywana Terrell and had his first child, a daughter Kiauna. His greatest joys were his family, whom he loved spending time with, and his friends. On July 2, 1994, Nathan married Sekethia Wilder, and he adopted his second daughter Britni Wilder. Nathan was a well-known entrepreneur. After his modeling career, Nathan owned and operated clothing stores, restaurants, thrift stores, and a payday loan store. However, his true love and passion was real estate. He was an investor and real estate coach. In every sense of the word, he was a real estate mogul, owning hundreds of properties, land, commercial and residential. Nathan was multi-talented. A pillar in his community and a philanthropist at heart. For over 14 years, he established back-to-school drives, toy drives, and turkey giveaways and provided meals for the homeless and less fortunate. Nathan also provided houses for men and women to reunite back into society. Nathan loved the Lord. His favorite gospel group was the Canton Spirituals, and his favorite scripture was Isaiah 54:17 "No weapon formed against me shall prosper." As a child, he attended Bethlehem Baptist, and as an adult, he attended Beulah Baptist, Bethel Christian Fellowship, and First Baptist of Glenarden. In 2017, Nathan rededicated his life to Christ and made his new church home Harvest Assembly Baptist Church. In 2008, Nathan met his devoted and long-term girlfriend, Christine Holloman. They were best friends, and when you saw one, you definitely saw the other. He was with Christine until his final days. Nathan loved his family and his community. He was a true hustler, The life of the party, and had a big giving heart. Nathan had been clean and sober for 26 years, a True Champion. He continued to live in recovery, helping and inspiring others along the way. One of his favorite quotes was...."To project an image, you have to protect an image." Nathan is survived by Reacer A. Baah (mother); Kiauna Terrell (daughter) (Ronald Ganeousfiancée); Britni Wilder (daughter); Christine Holloman (devoted long-term girlfriend); Raniyah Smith and Baby Bryson (bonus-children); Leia Terrell (granddaughter); Kobe Pringle (grandson); Kaymora Ganeous (granddaughter); Randolph Williams (brother) (Precilla Williams); Dana Carter (sister); Diana Carter (sister); Chris Carter (brother) (Jackie Carter); Rita Jalloh (Mohammad Jalloh); Raphael Carter (brother) (Tonya Peake); Jeane King (aunt); Peggy Instiful (aunt); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins
