Lamar Edmonds

Lamar Edmonds was born on December 23, 1983 at the Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia to Irene Edmonds and Geoffrey Thomas. He transitioned from this life to life everlasting on December 26, 2024 in Washington, D.C. He was educated in the Fairfax County School System having attended Woodley Hills Elementary, Langston Hughes Middle and South Lakes High Schools. Lamar was baptized on February 24, 2013 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. While at Ebenezer he was an active member of the church’s Bible Study Group. Even though he was not a regular attendee of church services, Lamar loved the Lord and was always ready to discuss in depth the Word of God. Lamar loved his family and was always excited to spend time with them. Being the only boy with four sisters, he often drove them crazy with his antics and corny jokes. However, each of them spoiled him in their own special way. Because he inherited his “gift of gab” from his Dad and Aunt Becky, he could genuinely talk you into doing a lot of things for him. With his Aunt Sandy all he had to say was, “Grandma said” and she would grant his request! He enjoyed playing basketball, football and even dabbled in rap. His favorite football team was the Washington Commanders. He was the Ping Pong Champion of the Gum Springs Recreation Center and won competitions at other centers throughout the county. On September 28, 2004, his life changed with the birth of his daughter, Semaja. She was the love of his life. He was a doting father and did his best to spend quality time with her. Lamar will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We take strength in knowing that to be absence from the body is to be present with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Semaja Smith; his mother, Irene Edmonds-Hayes; five sisters, Shena Thomas Smith, Tyrea Edmonds, Keaira Edmonds, Kirsha Edmonds, Daysha Hayes; one brother, Dawud Farrow; seven aunts; two uncles; numerous nieces and nephews to include one great niece and a host of loving cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Geoffrey Thomas and step-father, Kidfield Hayes; grandparents, James and Annie Mae Edmonds and Elsie Taylor-Jordan, aunt, Vernie Wanzer and uncle, Nelson Womack.
