Janie Bell Pollard

Ms Janie Bell Pollard went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 13, 2018. She was born to John Edward Pollard and Jewell Lewis Pollard on September 3, 1946 in Alexandria, Virginia. After the death of her parents, she moved to Ruckersville, Virginia, where she was reared by her grandmother, Janie Bell Lewis and her aunt, Hazel Lewis-Jackson. As a small child, she attended Alexandria Public Schools and graduated from Jackson P. Burley High School in Charlottesville, Virginia. After graduating from High School, she came back to Alexandria, Virginia to live with her sister, Florence Bell Watkins, attended college and worked as a Librarian. She later secured a job with the D.C. Public School System as a Payroll Counselor, where she retired with over 30 years of Service. Janie Bell, as she was affectionately known by her family members, loved her children, family, strangers, and was always willing and available to help anyone who needed her. She was very athletic and loved to walk, shop and have her hair done. Janie loved diet Pepsi and salad with ranch dressing. She absolutely loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Lee'ajah whom she adored. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart and soul. As a child and young adult, Janie was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Later in life, she joined the Master's Child Church in Oxon Hill, Maryland (formerly) in Forestville, Maryland, where she served on the usher board and was also an active member of Mount Victory Baptist Church in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, where she was a member of the choir and worked in the Women's ministry at the church. She also attended and was a member of Seed of Faith Baptist Church. She was well respected and loved by everyone she encountered. Janie was always helping others and made many personal sacrifices in her service to others. Janie is survived by her son, Lamar Anthony Maxwell, her daughter, Cynthia Brockington. Also, survived by her brother, Albert "Mickey" Pollard, sister, Ruby "Sheila" Williams, niece, Pamela McKnight and aunt, Alice Lewis. She was preceded in death by her son, Lee Edward "Booney" Maxwell and the love of her life, Larry Maxwell. Also, preceded in death by her brother, John Edward Pollard, Jr., sisters, Rachel Pollard, Florence Bell Watkins, Lena Jane Watkins, and Katie Mae Walls. She leaves to grieve, several other aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
