Mr. Permus M. Hall Sr.
December 2, 1925 - January 31, 2014
Permus M. Hall, Sr. was born on December 2, 1925 to Ethel Johnson and Bernard Hall. He was educated in the Alexandria City Public School system where he completed his education at a 6th grade level. Mr. Hall was married in 1945 to Jean E. Webster and they were blessed within that union with a daughter, Corliss Hogan, and two sons, Permus Hall, Jr., and Aaron C. Hall. Permus, affectionately known as “Shorty Hall” was known for his perseverance and dedication to family. These outstanding traits showed in his day to day life and in his ability to provide and guide each and every one of his family members even with a limited amount of formal education. Permus was a veteran of the United States Army. After his active tour of duty ended he continued to work as part of the transportation pool out of Ft. Belvoir, VA until his retirement. In addition to being a dedicated family man, Shorty Hall was a very active member in the Elks Lodge ------------------------------- Shorty was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his daughter, Corliss; his son, Aaron; and two grandsons, Rashad and Rodell. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Permus Hall, Jr. (Jonnie); three granddaughters, Tranita Randolph-Adams, Raeshawn Randolph and Carolina Evans; 11 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joan Smith; and a special daughter, Gwen Black. Permus had a heart for people and will truly be missed by all.
