Mrs. Clarice Bransom Higginbotham

March 21, 1922 - July 16, 2020

Clarice Bransom Higginbotham was born in Palmyra, Virginia on March 21, 1922, the second daughter of William and Mamie Payne Bransom. She departed this life on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Clarice moved at an early age with her family to Alexandria, Virginia. She attended Third Baptist Church and graduated from Parker-Gray High School. She graduated from Howard University with a degree in Nutrition, however, she worked, received awards and retired as a civil servant with the Department of the Navy. Clarice never met a stranger; she loved people, especially friends at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church. She loved Sunday School, the Silver Leaf Club and the March Birthday Fellowship. Flowers, vegetable gardening and cooking brought joy to her and everyone benefited. She loved and supported her family and friends in all their endeavors. Clarice was small in stature, but had a fondness for ice cream, cake and good food. Clarice is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Higginbotham and sister, Burnette Stamps. She leaves to cherish her memory; stepdaughter, Sharon Johnson (Freddie), stepson; Thurman Higginbotham and the Higginbotham family. She also is survived by a great niece,; Tiffany Watson, great nephew, Clarence Watson III, cousins; Hortense Payne Smith, Bernard Payne, Elton Payne, Sandra Kennedy, Julia , Sade and Herbert Goldson, Angel Jones, Denise Green (Eddie), Sharon Jones Frazier, friends; Linwood Smith and Jesurena Smith-Griffin, all the special people at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church plus a host of other friends. “Give her a reward of her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates” Proverbs 31:31
