Rebecca A Caple

Rebecca “Toots” Arvell Caple was born on February 19, 1948 in Alexandria, VA to Luther Caple who preceded her in death and Vivian Caple of Alexandria, VA. She resided in Alexandria until her death. Rebecca peacefully transitioned into heaven on January 30, 2014 at Capital Care Hospice Center in Arlington, VA. She leaves to celebrate her life and memories, her mother Vivian Caple, two aunts, Bernice Majors and Maxine Hackley, one uncle, Donald Brent Smith. One sister thru the union of Luther and Vivian, Sarah Wiggins (Keith), son Howard E. Eaves, Jr. (Veronica), daughter Tonya Hatten (Marcos). Four grandchildren Ebonae Eaves, Xavier Eaves, Janavia Cousins, and Izaiah Eaves. Nephew William Blake (Selethia) and niece Nydia Latson. Two great nephews Bruce Gelabert and Lorenzo Blake, two great nieces India and Taylor Latson, and a host of cousins and friends. Rebecca’s extended family thru her late father Luther includes three brothers, Luther Caple, Jr. (Lolitta), Lawrence Caple, and William Caple (Kathy). Four sisters Donna Oates (William), Bernadette Clyburn (James), Jeannie Caple (Tajuana), and Helena McPhatter (Chris). Rebecca attended Alexandria and Washington, DC Public Schools. She drove buses for DASH, Alexandria City Public Schools, and the Washington Metropolitan Airport Authority. Due to health reasons Rebecca medically retired from the City of Alexandria as a residential counselor for those with disabilities. She continued to serve her community even with her health declining by driving school buses for The Montessori School in Alexandria. Rebecca was of a quiet nature that made many friends. Those who knew Rebecca would quickly realize that she was indeed a true to heart Dallas Cowboys’ fan who despised the Redskins. She was a very independent woman who loved music, dancing, dressing nice, and driving. You would always hear her pride when she mentioned her grandkids. Her life was a living testimony of getting back on your feet after the trials and tribulations that life sends our way. Rebecca used her life experiences to help others overcome their struggles. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in December 2007 and rejoined Oakland Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. Tribute “She sits by the window with wondering eyes. She has a song in her heart and a golden disguise. Her body is torn because age doesn’t heal. She’s not letting on about the pain that she feels but she knows in her soul that it won’t be too long ‘til Jesus comes back to carry her home where there will be no more pain, no more sorrow, no more waiting for illusive tomorrows.
