Raymond’s Life Journey Raymond Costello Buford affectionately known as “Ray”, “Nikki” , “Ray Ray”, “ Buford” and “Crab Man”, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at home in District Heights with his loving and devoted life-partner Debbie. He was born November 17, 1944, in Petersburg, VA., to the late Clarence and Pearl Buford. Raymond attended Petersburg, VA public schools and graduated from Peabody High School. He attended Technical Electronics Solid State Training, Inc., receiving a diploma and a FCC Second Class License. Ray was member of the TESST’s 90/90 Club and was nominated to be listed in the 1982 Who’s Who Among Student in American Vocational and Technical Schools. He later attended culinary school and excelled in delicious cooking gourmet meals. He was employed with Western Electric, Seaboard Security System and CDI Metro System. He was an entrepreneur of R & D Seafood, “Home of Bubba!”, best crabs on The Pike. Ray was a fun-loving person with a great personality, he met no strangers. He loved his music (Blues/Jazz), playing the guitar(self-taught), dancing with Debbie like nobody’s watching, gardening, painting and always encouraging family and friends to be well and eat well and sharing his herbal tips. Ray was very gifted with his hands and mind and enjoyed fixing all that was broken or what he had broken. His passion was traveling with Debbie on solid ground. Raymond is preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence Jr., Oscar Alexander, Herbert Hoover, Cecil Francelle, Carl Elmon, Randal , three sisters: Bernell O. Tyson, Catherine Talley and Barbara Ann Buford. He leaves to cherish his memories his romantic partner, Deborah L. Turner for 47 years, step-sister, Margaret Lewis; step-brother, Henry Davis, accepted step-son Taurance L. Turner (Lakesha) step-grandchildren; Taurance, Jaimese and Alana (aka, Pumpkin); sister-in-law, Theresa Owens, devoted friends, Bruce Carter, Ronnie Street, Germaine Williams, Donald Williams and Bennie Goode, a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
