Mrs. Odella McDonald

Odella Pringle McDonald was born on October 3, 1940, in Hemingway, South Carolina, and peacefully passed away on January 2, 2025. Odella led a life rich with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community. She received her education in the public school system and attended Howard High School in Georgetown, SC. In 1961, Odella married Johnny McDonald, and together they relocated to Alexandria, VA, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. Throughout her life, Odella was a source of encouragement and inspiration to those around her, always offering advice and guidance to others. Whether it was sharing wisdom or simply listening, her words of comfort were a testament to her kind and nurturing spirit. Odella worked for many years at Krispy Kreme, where she became a beloved figure. Her kindness and warm nature left an enduring impact on her coworkers, and she is remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She retired from Krispy Kreme, leaving behind a legacy of generosity and care. A lover of nature, Odella cherished her home and the wildlife that surrounded it. She had a special connection with the squirrels and birds in her neighborhood, often feeding them. The animals would tap on her door, as if to remind her it was time to share a meal. Her garden, too, was a place of peace and beauty, where she worked alongside her son, Stacy McDonald, tending to the plants and nurturing the space with love. Above all, Odella was a dedicated mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She adored her family, supporting each person's unique gifts and talents. Her spirit lives on through the many lives she touched, offering a legacy of love, guidance, and kindness that will never be forgotten. Odella is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Elvira Pringle, and her daughter Margiretti McDonald, as well as her son Stacy McDonald. She leaves behind her husband, Johnny McDonald; daughter, Vanessa Weddington; sons, Vincent McDonald (Katherine) and John Eric McDonald (Monica); her sister, Theresa Briggs; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
