Larry Darnell Carter

REMEMBERING LARRY In memory of Larry Darnell Carter received his wings on September 13, 2025, at 74 years old. Born on June 18, 1951, in Alexandria, VA, where he spent his entire life, known for his dedication, warmth, and joy. Educated in the Alexandria school system, Larry graduated from T.C. Williams High School in 1971. He continued his education at Hampton Institute, earning a degree in education. This laid the foundation for a distinguished 33-year career in education, during which he made significant contributions at George Washington Middle School and his alma mater, now Alexandria City High School. Even after his retirement, Larry continued to express his passion for education by serving as a substitute teacher and GED test administrator for special needs and correctional facilities. Outside the classroom, Larry was a community pillar. He volunteered at local voting polls and generously shared his wisdom. His kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Larry valued connections with others and enjoyed visiting casinos, dining locally, and, most importantly. spending time with his family. Known for his conversational skills and storytelling talent, he was the heart of family gatherings, creating cherished memories with his infectious laughter and warm smile. Larry kept abreast of current events by reading every local newspaper he could find and was always ready for an open discussion on any topic. A chance encounter with Larry at one of his favorite spots-CVS, Giant, or Safeway-often turned into an enlightening 45-minute conversation. Larry will be joyfully reunited at the heavenly gates with his late parents, Mr. Moses and Selene Carter, as well as his brother, Edward Carter. He leaves behind his dear sister, Barbara Pearson, nephews Darnell Carter (Stephanie) and Donovan Pearson (Vanessa), JulianCarter and cherished niece Dondra Pearson (Bub), along with a host of great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will always remember the love and devotion Larry shared with everyone he knew. Additionally, he held special appreciation for his dedicated colleagues and friends, special note Lawrence McGee and the late Janice Blake. Mr. Carter will be greatly missed and may he rest in peace
