Mr. James Matthew Logan

In Loving Memory of James Matthew Logan ("Mack") James Matthew Logan peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, January 27, 2025. Born on November 11, 1947, in Halifax County, VA, he was the beloved second son of the late Willie Clay Logan and the late Laura Lee Logan. James received his early education in Halifax County schools before graduating from Parker-Gray High School in Alexandria, VA. As a child, he was a devoted member of Antioch Church of Christ under the leadership of Bishop H.W. Roberts. Throughout his life, James was a man of many talents. He worked as a cook and held positions at Sears and Sloan Furniture. He was also a gifted young architect, known for his remarkable skill in drafting and drawing. Later, he pursued a career in construction before partnering with his brother-in-law, James Durham, to establish J&J Painting, providing home improvement and painting services. James was united in marriage to the late Hilda Elaine Barber, and from their union, they were blessed with a son, Markus (Mark) Logan. He was also a proud father to his daughter, Mrs. Maxine Terrell Dennis of Corpus Christi, TX. James was known for his kind heart, quiet carefree spirit, and unmistakable sense of humor— qualities that made him a truly one-of-a-kind individual. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hilda Elaine Logan; his father, Willie Clay Logan; his mother, Mother Laura Lee Logan; his brother, Bishop Willie Roger Logan; and his sister, Missionary Margaret G. Durham. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Logan of Alexandria, VA; his daughter, Maxine Terrell Dennis of Corpus Christi, TX; one sister, Minister Valarie J. Logan of Fredericksburg, VA; one brother, Bishop D. Wayne Logan (First Lady Erma J. Logan) of Alexandria, VA; his sister-inlaw, Mother Rosa M. Logan; his beloved granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless others who loved him. In honor of Mack’s life, his family invites you to celebrate his memory by embracing laughter and love —just as he did. Forever in our hearts, James Matthew Logan
