Celebrating the Life of David Lee Ward “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8 David Lee Ward was born on April 29, 1957!in Morgan City, LA to Ruby Bowser and the late Alfred Ward, Jr. He earned his wings and departed this earth and ascended to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2022. David attended the Alexandria City Public Schools and graduated from T. C. Williams in 1976. From there, he went to work for Virginia Imports Wine and Beer Distributor. He was employed there for 41 years before retiring in December 2020. During this time, he met and married his wife of 36 years, Sarah. He was well known and loved by the community. He always had a knack for making you laugh with his humorous ways. He was a member of the T. C. Williams 1976 Reunion, where all the fellows would meet once a month and shared life lessons. David was brought up as a Christian at Meade Memorial Episcopal Church and was an Usher for many years. Although he did not change his belief in God, he would follow the sermons every Sunday with Rev. Dr. Duane T. Kay. He always got excited when he would join in on Sunday mornings via Facebook Live. His word was with so much excitement. “Pastor Kay can preach!!!!!” David loved God, he had a relationship with God and his word during his time of illness was “God Got Me.” Family gatherings was always a great time for him to make his appearance and he would have everyone laughing so hard until our sides and stomachs were sore. He was a compassionate, humble and caring person to all who came in contact with him. And oh, did we mention, he was a DIE-HARD COWBOY Fan? He wore the hats, the shirts and had any kind of memorabilia he could find to represent his team. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sarah, two daughters Andrea Bell (Bryan) and Amber Ward; grandson Jalen and granddaughter Gabrielle; his mother Ruby Bowser, his siblings, Barbara, Dale Ward Sr. (Debra), Alvin Ward Sr., Patricia, Karen, Gladys Green (Andre). A host of nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his father, Alfred Ward, Jr, his brother Melvin Ward and his sister Gayle Bowser. He also leaves behind his devoted brothers/friends for over 53 years, Gregory Caple, Jeffrey Farves and Steven Hines. You could not say that they were not blood brothers, because whenever you saw one, you saw them ALL. David left a great legacy for his family and friends. All these special traits that he had exhibited, for he will be forever loved and never forgotten!
