Beatrice Mae Bussie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Beatrice Mae Bussie, commonly known as “Bea, BB, Aunt Bea, & Momsie Bea” was born May 4, 1939, and is the daughter of the late Willie Mae and William Bussie Sr. She has eight siblings: five brothers. Arthur (AB), William Jr, Theodore (Pop), Robert (Shag), John (Bo) along with three sisters - Rose, Elsie and Phyllis. She leaves to mourn her eldest daughter Michelle, grand-daughters Jessica, Tailor, Jenine & Janelle, as well as long-time friend Byron. She also leaves to mourn the many who loved her dearly,1st, 2nd and 3rd generation nieces, nephews, cousins, in-law, church members, co-workers, neighbors, and friends. Bea was blessed with two children Michelle Bussie Worthington and the late Marvette Patrice Clay. She raised her girls to be thoughtful, self-sufficient and God fearing. She always emphasized the importance of education. She began her career as a beautician and graduated from the Madam C.J. Walker College of Beauty Culture; subsequently receiving her license from the DC Board of Cosmetology in August 1967. Once she stopped doing hair, Bea worked and eventually retired from the Federal government, where she worked for over 30 years at the Social Security Administration. Bea was an active, tithing member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church. She loved doing personalized craft and floral designs for many of the church’s activities. Her hobbies were ceramics, floral design, and just about any craft project you can imagine. Everyone knows her favorite cable TV options were QVC, HSN, and the Hallmark Channel. Bea’s absolute favorite holiday was Christmas, as evidenced by the fully decorated tree still standing in her living room (Since 2018). She’d just change the colors to reflect the holiday. She also loved hosting the Bussie Family & Friends gatherings for New Year’s, Easter, July 4th and of course Christmas! On Monday, August 14, 2023, Beatrice went to be with the Lord and reunite with her parents, siblings, and youngest daughter Marvette. Psalm 90:10 states that we are only promised 3 score and 10 (70 years). Bea was blessed to live an extra 14 years past what God promised. “Won’t HE do it?!"
